Westmoreland S.P., Thanksgiving 2013

Finally cashed in some volunteer hours on a cabin stay at Westmoreland State Park, one of the original 6 state parks in VA.
After moving dates several times, I settled on Thanksgiving week to take advantage of some "free" days-off from work and school was out too.  My folks came along to keep us company and enjoy the quirks of temporarily living in a log cabin in the woods.

Cabin #8,built in the 1930s...

lotsa steps

Nestled along the coast of the Potomac, there was some interesting flora with deep gullies cut thru the land where water has found it's way to the river over many many years.

Searching for shark teeth.

Haven't been riding much, but did manage to get away for a quick ride of the "hiking" trails....some sections rather unrideable, but some pretty fun.  This place got devastated when Hurricane Irene blew through in August 2011.

sneak peak.....sold the Black Cat frame and built this....although it's been sitting in the garage for 2 weeks now and not ridden on actual dirt yet.....

Looks like a good family time! I think Pennock went there with his fam in the last year or so and recommended it. Gonna have to drag my crew up there some time.
